The drawbar load, the coupling height and the way the trailer is supported all influence how stable the unit travels and how safely it can be parked and handled on site. For professional users, this is not a minor detail but a key part of safe operation.

The drawbar load is the weight resting on the trailer coupling. It should stay within the value stated in the operating instructions, on the coupling head and in the vehicle registration document. As a practical rule, water, fuel and accessories should be distributed as evenly as possible so the load remains close to the recommended range. Too little drawbar load can reduce road holding, while too much can also affect control of the vehicle combination. A balanced setup helps the trailer track more steadily and makes driving more predictable.

Coupling height matters especially on tandem-axle high-pressure units, where the position of the ball head can influence the drawbar load more strongly. If the height cannot be adjusted on the towing vehicle, the load may need to be redistributed through the tank levels or by moving accessories. This is a simple way to bring the trailer back into a suitable position before transport. The current drawbar load can be checked with standard personal weighing scales and a piece of wood placed between the coupling and the scale.
