Automatic Shutdown of the High Pressure Cleaner Caused by Lack of Water

Learn why a high-pressure cleaner can switch off when the water supply is insufficient and how to prevent downtime. This practical guide explains the protection logic and the steps that help maintain stable operation.

High-pressure units shutdown caused by lack of water

A high-pressure cleaner needs a reliable water supply to run safely and efficiently. If the supply pressure drops too far, the machine may switch off automatically to protect the pump. That safeguard is important in daily professional use, where unstable water conditions can quickly interrupt cleaning work and increase wear on the system.

DYNAJET high-pressure cleaners use two water pressure sensors for protection. One monitors the upstream pressure and one the supply pressure. The machine starts only when the water pressure is above 1.8 bar, and during operation it must not fall below 0.8 bar. These limits help prevent damage when the water supply is restricted or fluctuates during use.

If the cleaner connects to the water supply but switches off after a few seconds, the cause is often pressure loss in the feed line or an unstable network. A shorter supply hose can reduce losses, and a larger hose diameter can improve flow. In practice, it also helps to check the inlet filter, avoid manifolds, and verify whether other users on the same water network are creating pressure drops.

Where the supply system itself cannot provide enough water pressure, an additional supply pump may be the right solution. For contractors and industrial users, this is especially relevant on temporary sites, in plant areas or wherever several consumers share one water source. A stable water supply keeps the high-pressure cleaner ready for work and supports consistent performance under demanding conditions.

How supply hose length and diameter affect water pressure

Long hoses and narrow lines create pressure loss. A shorter supply hose with a larger diameter helps maintain stable flow and reduces the risk of automatic shutdown.

Clean the inlet filter, avoid unnecessary manifolds and review other water consumers on the same network. If needed, add a supply pump for steadier pressure.
